Academic teaching position in which clinical care of patients was delivered while teaching UCSD Internal Medicine residents and UCSD medical students in both Inpatient and Outpatient clinical settings. Inpatient work included caring for patients in the Intensive Care Unit, Brain Injury/Spinal Cord Injury Unit, Cardiac Telemetry Unit and Inpatient Medical Floors.  

 

As Medicine 401 Clerkship Site Director, was heavily involved with bedside and formal didactic teaching of UCSD Medical Students, feedback sessions and formal evaluations/grading of medical students participating in the Inpatient Medicine Rotation. Received three teaching awards and one department service award while serving in this position. 

 

Created a new course and curriculum for 3rd year UCSD medical students which involved the use of wireless manikin technology to teach various clinical scenarios involving emergent/urgent medical conditions including Acute Coronary Syndrome, COPD exacerbation, Cardiopulmonary Arrest and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. 

 

Also worked in multiple specialty clinics including Gastroenterology/Liver Clinic performing evaluations and treatment of patients with Hepatitis B and C along with management of any sequelae associated with end stage liver disease. Was heavily involved in Endocrinology Diabetes clinic performing evaluations and treatment on brittle diabetic patients on complex regimens of insulin and oral hypoglycemics along with treatment of long term sequelae involving diabetic related complications.
